this year the annual culture yearbook featured 5 of my illustrations. the 2012 edition is themed as ‘rulebreakers’ and each of my works sits alongside chapters which focus on creativity pushing the limits and breaking the rules

do give up your day job..

doing a bit of morning reading and i came across this post by the lovely Beth Emily http://www.beth-emily.com/blog/2011/11/1586/#comments

it got me thinking about freelancing and although it is super scary its the best decision i have made..

i used to sit at an office desk counting down the hours/minutes/seconds till i could excape at 5pm now i dont have enough time in my day to do all i want to do..

i do feel lucky that i do what i love but at the same time it should be normal to love your work as lets be honest it takes up most of you week!

so my inspirational post for the day - take a risk, could be the best thing you do!

Back at it in the studio today.. its always a little hard to get into things after the christmas break but i have so much happening i have to start somewhere!

This year i want to really explore different mediums.. i want to do more screen printing, get into letterpress and create more sketches in watercolour and inks. Im going to Europe mid year so im sure this will inspire me!

Im working away on the logo for my venture into design ‘these birds’ which will be launching soon - think handmade, illustrative, vintage, rustic, handwritten types etc etc.

Also - my sister and i are opening our own shared studio located in chapel st, windsor, its going to be amazing all be it a little overwhelming at the moment! If you are an artist interested in hiring a desk space in the room let me know, looking to fill it with lovely creative people..

i moved into a new studio this week above the little sparrow shop in carlise st, st kilda.. its a cute little sunny room i will be working from with my sister bree for 3 months before we start our own shared space.. all exciting!
